Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, commonly known as Cristiano Ronaldo (CR7 known or Commander ) , is a Portuguese footballer born in Funchal 5 February 1985 . He played as a striker for Real Madrid since 2009 and is the current captain of the Portuguese national team.
High in the district of Santo Antonio on the island of Madeira, Cristiano Ronaldo joined the training center of the Sporting Portugal at the age of 11 years where he spent six years before signing his first professional contract in 2002. Recruited in the summer of 2003 by Manchester United, he reveals himself at Euro 2004 with Portugal. It carries a full 2007-2008 season, winning the championship and the prestigious Champions League.
In 2009, he is the object of the highest transfer in football history when he left Manchester United for the club from the Spanish capital against a compensation of approximately € 94 million. Since 2013, Cristiano Ronaldo has a release clause of one billion euros, which made him the most expensive player in the world under contract.
His technical skills, physical abilities and sense of purpose led him to be considered one of the most complete strikers. Crowned Ballon d'Or "Golden Ball" in 2008 and second in 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2012, it is considered one of the best players in the world.
Born into a poor family of four children, he was during his early childhood support Benfica and spends most of his time playing football in his neighborhood of Santo Antonio in Funchal, on the island of Madeira.
